Podcast topic – Rachel’s story, Her book Underspent, Finances, TEDX talks, New books and lots more!
This week on The Desmore Chats With podcast I chat with RACHEL SMITH she has written two books called Underspent and Decongestion; she is a Keynote speaker, Researcher, Storyteller and founder of City Planning For Modern Lifestyles. Rachel has spoken at TEDX twice and is here in studio with me today to inspire both you and I! Her truly insightful book Underspent is one of my favourite reads.
I have read many books regarding financial literature but this read is one of my favourites hands down. Why you might ask? Because this book is a “to the point” and “practical” read giving us insightful wisdom teaching us how to navigate our finances with an understanding of why and how we do what we do when it comes to spending our money. Rachel Smith has done a wonderful job sharing her personal story with us, and believe me we can all relate to her story with ease, I most certainly did. Her insights led me to having countless light bulb moments.

“I absolutely loved meeting and podcasting with Desmore. She had read my book, put a lot of effort into creating some really thought provoking questions, was incredibly enthusiastic and was an absolute pleasure to chat with. We could have chatted for hours. I loved every minute and hope to be on her show again one day. Thank you.” Rachel Smith

About Rachel Smith
Hi. I’m Rachel. I’m an Author, Keynote Speaker, Urban Transport Planner and a Traffic Decongestion Specialist.
I’m the Author of Decongestion – 7 steps for mayors and other city leaders to cut traffic congestion without the expense of new roads or annoyed residents.
I’ve spent the last 16 years working in the private and public sectors in the UK and Australia.Within 2 years of entering the transport profession I was retained by the UK Government for 6 years as a specialist advisor cutting congestion at schools, workplaces and tourist attractions. I was responsible for giving ‘as required’ advice, providing technical support and delivering/implementing projects. I increased walking to school from 38% of all trips to 92% at two schools in the UK – What this really means is that I removed more than 200 cars from the streets around each school I worked with. I was chosen to solve tourism related traffic issues at major tourist destinations include Eden Project, Tate Gallery and National Trust. I now have a similar role with the NSW Government.
