The art of public speaking has always been a dear love and passion for me from a young age. I love attending theatre productions, live entertainment shows and watching performers share their beautiful art of expression with us. When the energy of a great performer, speaker or entertainer moves me to shift into a state of awe. I feel uplifted beyond words, what a feeling!
When I reflect back to the most memorable on-stage speakers, entertainers and performers they all shared a common trait, they were being authentic. These artistic souls understood their own talents, gifts and contribution they wanted to share with the world. Their energy felt real, honest and sincere as though they were speaking to our hearts. I share an important lesson with my public speaking clients, your spoken words are as important as your non-verbal presence. An audience can feel when a speaker is being too staged and non-engaging. When we are speaking, engaging and sharing our messages and stories, we need to remember that we are engaging with human beings. Human connection is the most important aspect of becoming a memorable on-stage presence. When you give of yourself for the greater good of your audience, the connection will be built on a foundation of trust. Consumers across the world are being bombarded with information every single day, our communication methods have changed and evolved. I believe that human connection will remain through the sands of time as a critical connector that moves us all.
When you are being asked to engage in a public speaking opportunity about your topic, expertise, story and message, see this beautiful opportunity as a sacred gift of passing down your wisdom to your audience. Your words can transform, inspire and help heal another human. Your words and your voice count, make the most of it.
